Dolores Arce-Kaptain
is the Director of the UMKC Project Alianzas, a collaborative project
of the University of Missouri Extension System and UMKC. Prior to
this, she served as Coordinator of the Maternal and Child Health Coalition
of Greater Kansas City, the only area organization that focuses on
both maternal and child health. She has also held staff appointments
at the UMKC School of Medicine, the UMKC Institute for Human Development
and the School of Graduate Studies at Stephen F. Austin State University
in Nacogdoches, Texas. While employed by the United States Information
Service at the United States Embassy in Mexico City, she received
a commendation from the United States Information Agency for assisting
with rescuing efforts while serving during the earthquakes of 1985.

Arce-Kaptain is a graduate
of the UMKC College of Arts and Sciences, and also attended Southwestern
University.
She holds memberships in the
Coalition of Hispanic Organizations (COHO), the National Council
of La Raza, Sociedad Hidalgo, UMKC Women's Council, and MANA de
Kansas City where she serves as Vice President for Public Relations.
She has served as interpreter for Truman Medical Center and other
organizations/individuals.
Ms. Arce-Kaptain was born
and raised in Mexico City and has been living in the United States
since 1988.
